Mercer and Jessee discuss series opening rout of rival Purdue

Indiana came in with questions last night about how quickly in a weekend series they could their bats going. Despite facing a Friday pitcher in Khal Stephen who had been very effective against Big Ten hitters, the Hoosier bats got off to a fast start with four runs on a pair of homers in the first inning. They added three more homers in the fourth. When all was said and done every Hoosier in the starting lineup had at least one hit and seven of them homered. Hunter Jessee hit two home runs in one inning and Phillip Glasser tied a Big Ten (B1G) record by scoring six times in one game. Following the game the media spoke with head coach Jeff Mercer and Jessee.
Indiana and Purdue are back at it for game 2 at 1pm. The Hoosiers are tied with Maryland in the B1G standings (though we list the Hoosiers as second due to the head-to-head tiebreaker rules). One more Indiana win would also clinch a berth in the B1G Tournament. See You At The BART!
