Indiana had to score big on an elite Friday starter and have the bullpen keep the game manageable after Freshman Evan Whiteaker could not find the strikezone in the first inning which ended with the Hoosiers down 6-0. Gabe Levy allowed three inherited runners and two of his own to score in the first (one unearned), but then pitched three scoreless and thanks to some help from the Hoosier bats, Levy left with a lead and earned the win. Ryan Kraft pitched 4 scoreless and had to work out of multiple jams.
Brock Tibbitts paced the Hoosier batters, going 3 for 4 with 4 runs batted in, including a home run. After the game the media spoke with head coach Jeff Mercer and Tibbitts.
