Hoosier Baseball in the News

by Chris Feeny • @iubase17 • Aug 3

A former Friday night starter throws a gem, a former cleanup hitter makes an All Star team and a former Franklin Community High School student is making a return home.

Kyle Hart has been looking like that Friday night starter we watched for years. He had an impressive first half of the season which led to representing his team in the All Star Game. He’s actually been even better since the break. In his past three starts for the Portland Sea Dogs, Hart has thrown 19 innings and given up just 3 runs and struck out 17. Last night in an abbreviated game (7 innings) he threw a 2 Hit complete game shutout.

When Kyle Hart participated in that All Star Game he joined Craig Dedelow as the second Hoosier Baseball Alumni to do so in 2018.

Logan Sowers has now made it three. He will be representing the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League’s mid summer classic on Tuesday August 7th in Colorado.

And don’t forget that on Saturday evening Coach Mercer will be in charge of firing up the students from his high school alma matter.

Right after Coach Merc was hired,  The Daily Journal wrote about how much hard work he’s put in from his days at Franklin to where he is now.

And ICYMI, yesterday, Cassady Palmer provided some Top 3 Statistical Rankings from the 2018 Hoosier Baseball Season.
