Hoosier Baseball beats ISU in what was a mid week game for the ages

In what seemed like a college baseball game from the ‘Gorilla Ball’ days of the 90’s, Hoosier Baseball out-slugged the Sycamores 15-14.

The ups and downs of this one were nothing short of a ride on the Cyclone in Coney Island. Thanks to home runs by Fineman and Richardson, Indiana grabbed an early 8-1 lead after 3. But that turned into an 11-8 deficit by the sixth.

Next, a Grand Slam by Eli Dunham and Indiana was up 13-11 by The Stretch. That lead lasted about 10 minutes after a two run homer in the bottom of the inning tied it at 13.

Drew Ashley led off the 8th with a bomb but Indiana State tied it at 14 before the ninth started.

Luckily, Hoosier Baseball won the ninth. A solo shot by Cole Barr combined with just the third scoreless inning of the day from Indiana State gave Hoosier Baseball the win and Matt Lloyd the save.

The offensive numbers were staggering.  The pitching results were frustrating. Either way, Hoosier Baseball takes a happy bus ride back to Bloomington tonight and start B1G Ten Play Friday vs Iowa on Friday night.
