Inning by inning details as the Hoosiers start a five-game home stand

Top 9th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 15 (FINAL)

Cooper Katskee is on the bump to close this out for Indiana. Two quick pop ups are followed up by a walk. After the next pitch is a ball, Tibbitts goes out to settle his pitcher and it works as a strike out finishes the win for Indiana.

Bottom 8th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 15

Glasser hits a single up the middle for his fourth hit of the day, matching his hit count against ECU’s ace on Friday. Sam Murrison pinch hits and flies out. Devin Taylor loses his bat and then gets plunked. Jorge De Goti drives in Glasser with a solid single to left. Vecrumba strikes out to end the inning.

Top 8th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 14

Cerny moves to first base, Tibbitts to catcher, De Goti is the new third baseman. Wes Burton is the new Indiana pitcher and works around a walk to extend the Hoosier streak to five scoreless frames.

Bottom 7th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 14

Josh Pyne leads off with a single and then is replaced by pinch runner Jorge De Goti. Ethan Vecrumba flies out as a pinch hitter for Mathison. Matthew Ellis gets a solid single and is replaced by pinch runner Evan Goforth. No runs for the Hoosiers.

Top 7th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 14

Nathan Ball is the new Hoosier pitcher. Ball plunks the lead off guy and walks another on four pitches, but with a couple of strikeouts strands the runners.

Bottom 6th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 14

Morgan Colopy

Morgan Colopy hits a 2-RBI double to extend the lead.

Top 6th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 12

Ethan Phillips is the second freshman to make his Hoosier debut. He gives up a single but nothing else. Topping at 89 with a 77-78 curveball, he struck out the last batter who leaned into a hit-by-pitch and was called out.

Bottom 5th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 12

Indiana adds three more.

Top 5th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 9

Aydan Decker-Petty, freshman righty, is the new Hoosier pitcher making his first appearance on the season. He goes 1-2-3 with two strikeouts mixing a 90 mph fastball with oof-speed between 79 and 84.

Bottom 4th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 9

Purdue Fort Wayne brings in a southpaw who gets a quick 1-2-3 inning.

Top 4th: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 9

Ty Bothwell bounce back and earns his second 1-2-3 inning of the day, including his fourth straight inning-ending strikeout.

Bottom 3rd: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 9

Glasser hits a one-out double and advances to third on a wild pitch. Whalen fights off several full count pitches and ends up grounding out to the pitcher, leaving Glasser at third. Jessee strikes out and the Hoosiers are held scoreless for the first time today.

Top 3rd: Mastodons 1, Hoosiers 9

Ty Bothwell hits the first batter of the inning, walks a batter with two-outs and gives up a 1-RBI ground rule double before ending the inning with a strikeout.

Bottom 2nd: Mastodons 0, Hoosiers 9

Tyler Cerny hits a gapper to right center that he legs out into a lead off triple. Morgan Colopy takes a pitch off his helmet. Glasser strikes out. Whalen clears the bases with a two RBI double. Hunter Jessee goes opposite field for his team-leading third home run for the year. A new Mastodon pitcher walks Pyne. Mathison pulls a single on the ground through the right side. Brock Tibbitts hits a ball 101mph off the bat 383 feet for a three run homer. Ellis strikes out. Cerny flys out to end the inning he started.

Top 2nd: Mastodons 0, Hoosiers 2

Bothwell goes 1-2-3 on six pitches. Staying in the zone, Bothwell end this inning with a batter whiffing on a fastball.

Bottom 1st: Mastodons 0, Hoosiers 2

Phillip Glasser works a full count walk to lead of the Hoosier’s half of the first. Bobby Whalen gets on with a bunt single. Hunter Jessee walks to load the bases. John Pyne drives in Glasser with a sacrifice fly on a hard hit ball to left field. Carter Mathison looks at strike three for the second out. A double steal gets both runners into scoring position. A check swing chopper lead to a Mastodon error scoring Whalen. Matthew Ellis grounds into a fielder’s choice to end the inning.

Top 1st: Mastodons 0, Hoosiers 0

Ty Bothwell is the starting pitcher. He works around a two-out walk but no damage. Bothwell was starting around 88 mph but got his fastball up to 90 and then struck out the last batter on a 92 mph heater.
