The final 2023 series gets underway in East Lansing

Top 9th: Hoosiers 6, Spartans 8 (FINAL)

Singles by Taylor, Tibbitts, and Mathison plate a run and bring Pyne to the plate representing the tying run. A sacrifice fly scores one more but takes Indiana to their last out. Jessee strikes out to end it.

Bottom 8th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 8

Kraft exits with an apparent injury. A couple of wild pitches and a sacrifice fly give the Spartans some insurance.

Top 8th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 7

Michigan State goes to their closer and set the Hoosiers down 1-2-3.

Bottom 7th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 7

A HBP and a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly extend Sparty’s lead.

Bottom 6th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 5

Sinnard gets his 10th strikeout of the game, but walks the bases loaded with two outs. Jeff Mercer elects to go with Ryan Kraft. A bases clearing double gives Sparty the lead.

Top 6th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 2

Serruto singles but is stranded.

Bottom 5th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 2

A bunt single is erased with a Sinnard pick-off.

Top 5th: Hoosiers 4, Spartans 2

A pair of doubles plates another Hoosier with two outs.

Bottom 4th: Hoosiers 3, Spartans 2

A single and walk puts a runner into scoring position and then plunks the 9-hole hitter to load the bases with two outs. Sinnard is struggling with fastball command in this inning. A flyout to Jessee in left ends the inning.

Top 4th: Hoosiers 3, Spartans 2

Cerny gets plunked to lead off the inning. Peter Serruto moves him to third with a single and Phillip Glasser drives him in with an RBI ground out. Whalen flies out. Michigan State goes to a lefty to face Taylor who strikes out.

Bottom 3rd: Hoosiers 2, Spartans 2

Sinnard gives up a two run shot to right. ⭐ Cerny catches a ball in deep foul territory.

Top 3rd: Hoosiers 2, Spartans 0

Carter Mathison rips a single and steals second, but Hunter Jessee goes down on strikes.

Bottom 2nd: Hoosiers 2, Spartans 0

Sinnard works around a single that advanced to scoring position on an error. He strikes the other three batters out. Six strikeouts so far.

Top 2nd: Hoosiers 2, Spartans 0

Hoosiers load the bases and Bobby Whalen chops a single up the minimum plating two Hoosiers.

Bottom 1st: Hoosiers 0, Spartans 0

Luke Sinnard allows a one out infield single. The nasty 12-6 curveball is strike three for out number two. A strikeout ends the inning.

Top 1st: Hoosiers 0, Spartans 0

Bobby Whalen is the first baserunner with a 1-out walk. Devin Taylor also draws a walk on a 3-1 count. They are stranded by a flyout and groundout.
