Indiana splits doubleheader, drops series at Purdue

An onslaught of offense from Hoosier hitters isn’t enough to claim the series

Indiana is now in a battle to try to get into the top-8 of the B1G standings in order to punch a ticket to the conference tournament in May. After suffering a 17-0 beat-down on Friday, the Hoosiers were going to need to sweep a road double header Sunday to improve their position ahead of a road series against B1G leader Rutgers next weekend. Indiana came close dominating game 1, but couldn’t quite squeak out the second game, a 16-15 slug fest.

Indiana drops to 12-18 on the year (2-4 in the B1G – 10th place). The Hoosiers next travel to Terre Haute 6pm Tuesday to take on the Indiana State Sycamores.

While iubase.com was there for the first game, the schedule change did not allow us to provide full coverage with our travel arrangements. You can read a detailed recap by IUHoosiers.com. We did manage to get some photos from Alexander Field of the first game on Sunday.
