All B1G teams except for Northwestern have conference series this weekend. With tons of questions still out there, perhaps some will be answered.
Nebraska at Minnesota. Two of the three teams (the other being Indiana) to sweep on opening weekend of league play clash against each other. These two teams got roughed up a bit against ridiculously tough non-conference slates to start the season. This series could tell us a lot about how they may stack up against the middle of the conference.
#25 Illinois at Iowa The Hawkeyes got punched in the face last weekend in Bloomington. A series against the B1G’s only nationally ranked team is probably not what they wanted to follow that up with. However, it will be home cookin’ for Iowa and we know they will be hungry.
Penn State at Purdue. Despite a great non-conference record, the Nittany Lions got swept at home to open up B1G play. The Boilers had the opposite story going on by recovering from a dreadful non-conference to open up with a series win against Northwestern. What will the weekend hold at Alexander Field? Anybody’s guess.
Ohio State at RUTGERS. Here’s another match-up of teams we just aren’t sure about yet. I expect the edge to go to the Buckeyes but this is by no means certain.
Manhattan at Canisius. For RPI strength-of-schedule, Hoosiers fans really want Canisius to tear through the MAAC this year. The Golden Griffins swept Sienna to start league play and can hopefully take care of business this weekend as well.
And no, I didn’t put Michigan/Michigan State on the list. Anything but a Wolverine sweep would be a huge shocker.
