Indiana Baseball announced a change to the coming weekend schedule. The Hoosiers will start the weekend on Friday at 2pm with a planned doubleheader at Bart Kaufman Field. Storms are projected throughout the day on Saturday which is the likely cause of the schedule change. Friday was likely elected to be the doubleheader day as it will be significantly warmer on Friday versus Sunday.

Pete Haas, who has been a go-to in short stints lately will open for the Hoosiers in the 2pm game. Expect a staff game for that one.

Gavin Seebold, who had been a Friday starter, got the save in Terre Haute with 2.1 innings of work on Tuesday. He may or may not be available out of the bullpen on Friday. Indiana has announced that Ben Grable will start for the third Friday in a row in Game 2.

Sunday is listed as TBD. This could be simply allowing for Cole Gilley to come out of the bullpen if needed. It could also signify that Seebold is an option to start the Sunday game as well. After Tuesday’s games, Jeff Mercer said that they may need to get long inning guys more innings by using them in some shorter stints in more games like they did in 2023 where they only had one true starting pitcher in Luke Sinnard. It’s possible that Ben Grable is projecting to that role while Seebold and potentially Gilley may see innings in multiple games per weeks, possibly in different roles.

Our Live Game Blog site will have coverage of Games 2 and 3. We will not be live blogging the Friday game as we have work conflicts.
