Hoosier Baseball heads 600 miles east for the first B1G road trip of the season.
Indiana Hoosiers (15-9) at Maryland Terrapins (12-11)
March 29-31
Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium
4122 Fieldhouse Dr
College Park, MD 20742
The last time Indiana and Maryland faced off it concluded the 2018 regular season. The sweep by the Hoosiers at The Bart eliminated Maryland from playing in the B1G Tournament and ended their season altogether. Dating back to 2015, 8 of the last nine regular season games have been won by Indiana.
The Hoosiers have started B1G play 3-0, and this series will begin the B1G schedule for Maryland. While Indiana was predicted to finish in the top 3 or 4 of the conference, most publications had Maryland once again struggling to make the B1G Tourney.
Maryland has lost their last six games at home including being swept by Crieghton and East Carolina. Last season, they played to a 13-13 home record.
Anticipate an emotion-filled series as the last two years at The Bart have led to confrontations outside the lines. These two teams do not seem to like each other very much, and that has been apparent the last two meetings. Not letting the high emotions affect execution will be a key to winning the series. On paper, Indiana has the talent to secure an important conference road series this weekend.
Terrapins to watch for
• Senior INF #24 Taylor Wright – leads team in AVG (.297) and Doubles (10)
• Sophomore OF #16 Randy Bednar – leads team in HR (4), RBI (20), and SB (8)
