The Indiana Hoosiers fought back from a stretch of disastrous pitching outing in March including home losses to Purdue Fort Wayne, Butler, and Illinois State, to finish third. in the Big Ten (B1G).The NCAA Selection Committee rewarded the Hoosiers with a 3-seed in the Knoxville regional starting Friday. Indiana will face 2-seed Southern Miss with an RPI of 26th. The host Tennessee Volunteers are the number one overall seed.

Indiana’s rough March had the RPI in triple digits. Winning six of the last seven B1G series and finishing third in the league put Indiana’s RPI in range to get the resume on the table. Big wins over Dallas Baptist, Coastal Carolina, Indiana State, Maryland, Purdue, and the opener against Nebraska made a selection a real possibility.

Selection announcement is progressing. Indiana was in the first regional presented. We will meet with coach Mercer and players this afternoon and have more coverage for you here on the site.
