Hoosiers dominate Rams 15-2 for first win of the season at the USA Baseball Complex

Indiana hitters come alive as ace Gavin Seebold holds Fordham to one earned run in six innings.

Gavin Seebold has now given up 6 runs (5 earned) between two first innings of his two starts. In eight 2nd through 6th innings he’s been dominant. He now sits at 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He only needed 75 pitches to get through six and clearly showing why he got the first starting role of the weekend. This time around the offense produced enough runs that Indiana didn’t need more than one inning out of any reliever, and didn’t need to use Drew Buhr at all. This sets the Hoosiers up well for the next three days.

Indiana’s offense attacked early and often, putting up crooked numbers in the first, third, fifth, seventh, and eighth innings. The Hoosiers walked 14 times, and cashed in with 12 hits. Centerfielder Korbyn Dickerson became the first Hoosier with multiple homers on the season. Dickerson lead the Hoosiers with 4 RBIs. Andrew Wiggins cleared loaded bases with a 110mph rocket to center that was dropped and ruled an error. Devin Taylor reached four times via walk. Dickerson, Joey Brenczewski, Jake Stadlerand Tyler Cerny all had a two-hit day.

The Rams did all of their damage in the first inning. Seebold walked the lead-off batter then surendered a single. Tyler Cerny bobbled a potential double play ball and then threw it over Jasen Oliver’s head to allow a run to score and put runners on the corners with no outs. Seebold faced a similar scenario last Friday. This time he limited the damage to just two total runs on a pair of sacrifices and a groundout, before dominating the rest of the day.

The 1-4 Hoosiers have a quick turn-around. They will face 0-2 Harvard at 10am ET Sunday morning.
