Five to Watch in Week 6

B1G play opens with some interesting match-ups, but five teams in the league have a conference bye this week and there are a couple of huge non-conference match-ups as well.

#24 Michigan at #19 Texas Tech. A B1G versus Big 12 powerhouse matchup. Doesn’t get much more marquee than this. The Wolverines struggled out west except for an upset of #1 UCLA. Can they so better in Texas? Game 1 has already been played and Texas Tech took that 11-2.

Minnesota at Penn State. The two most surprising B1G teams so far in clash of “Who knows what will happen?”. Anyone predicting anything other than a Minnesota sweep two months ago would have been laughed at. Now? Not sure of anything.

Illinois State at Illinois. Two very hot teams go at it. This is a nice test for the Illini.

Indiana State vs. Rutgers. Indiana State bats looked great on Tuesday. Will they continue to pound B1G pitching in this neutral site series?

Purdue at Northwestern. Both teams are struggling, but conference play is a fresh start. We can get an indication early of what the bottom of the league can look like.
